Alone time
I absolutely love being with my family. I love being with my friends. And I also love being alone. I know some people who go from a job with coworkers to their home with family to time with friends and they are never alone. Ever. Why, I don’t know.
But I DO know that my alone time is valuable. It resets my social meter. It gives me a chance to think deeply and to destress. It gives me the chance to know myself, in a much deeper way than anyone can surrounded by others, noise and activity. It gives me prayer time and also time to hand over my anxieties to the wind and let them float away.
A solo walk on the beach is magic for me. A hike in the woods or even sitting in your yard alone can change your entire attitude. This is the time to make decisions, to reflect, to plan, to let go, to listen to your own voice and to connect to God/source/The Universe.
Troubles slip away, solutions present themselves, and a sense of peace can come over us on a long alone walk or some sitting time somewhere still.
When was the last time you took an hour just for you?
Doing this a few days a month ( or week) can be life changing in a subtle but serene way.
Now that my kids are grown I get more alone time than I want, really, but I’m learning to use it wiser and to take the meditative walks, or sits , or deep breathing sessions more often.
Just me and the Universe, for a little bit of time.
Magical!
